Technical tours of D.V. Efremov NIIEFA (October 14) and the Ioffe FTI (October 15) will be organized for the Participants of the 25th Fusion Energy Conference (FEC 2014), which is organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and will be held in St. Petersburg (Russia) on October 13-18, 2014.

The program of the technical tour of D.V. Efremov NIIEFA (October 14) includes visits to laboratories, demonstration of test rigs of experimental installations and other facilities involved in the ITER project implementation, i.e. rigs for studies of high-current superconducting magnetic systems, rigs for thermal tests of the divertor specimens, laser welding systems, the system for soldering and heat treatment of the divertor components, the flaw detection section, production and test section of busbars for the ITER power supply systems, as well as benches involved with the work on modification of material surfaces’ properties and the GEZA facility.

The technical tour of the Ioffe Physical and Technical Institute will take place on October 15. The tour attendees will have a meeting with the institute’s top management, visit the scientific and technical center for thin film technologies as well as tokamaks Tuman-3M, FT-2 and Globus-M (cutting-edge fusion system in Russia, one of the three largest spherical tokamaks in the world). Also, the attendees will watch a video on scientific and technical achievements in controlled fusion of the Ioffe Institute.
